Knowlton Court has that rare mix of country house scale and tucked-away privacy, which suited an autumn wedding with prep in the main house, a church ceremony nearby and the reception returning to the grounds. Olivia and Jack used the place in a way that gave the film real shape, starting high up in the Knowlton Suite before everyone gathered later around the marquee. September gave the day a gentler feel without losing any of the energy of a full wedding celebration.
Morning
The morning began in the Knowlton Suite at the top of the main house, with Olivia getting ready while the venue slowly filled below. It gave us time to capture the quieter details before the pace changed, including those final moments before leaving for the church. With the ceremony nearby, the morning had a clear sense of movement, building towards the short journey over to Goodnestone.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place at the Church of the Holy Cross in Goodnestone, with Jack arriving ahead of Olivia and guests settling in before the one o’clock service. It was a classic church setting, calm and focused, with the vows giving the film its centre point. After the ceremony, everyone made their way back to Knowlton Court for the reception around the main house.
Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
The drinks reception led into the marquee, where the speeches came before the wedding breakfast. Jack, the bride’s father and two best men all spoke, which gave us plenty of natural audio and reaction to build into the film. Having the speeches before food meant the room was fully present for them, with everyone seated and ready for the afternoon to shift into celebration.
Evening
The evening moved from dinner into music, cake and dancing, with an electric violinist playing after dessert. Olivia and Jack had their first dance at around eight, followed by a father and daughter dance, which gave the evening a more personal turn before the party carried on. Later, the cake cutting brought everyone back together again as the reception settled into its final hours at Knowlton Court.
