East Quay has that proper Whitstable harbour character, with the sea close by, the working boats nearby and a reception space that suits an autumn wedding without trying too hard. Sophie and Chris made the most of that coastal setting in October 2021, moving from a church ceremony in Whitstable to a relaxed reception at East Quay. It gave their wedding film a real sense of place, especially with the harbour and drone shots helping to set the scene.
Morning
There was no bridal prep coverage for this one, so filming began around the church as guests arrived and Chris waited for the ceremony. Sophie travelled over from the Marine Hotel in Tankerton, arriving just before the 1pm service. It kept the start of the film focused on the build-up at the church rather than the morning preparations.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place at All Saints Church in Whitstable, with a gospel choir adding real energy inside the church. After the service, the choir continued outside, which gave everyone a chance to gather, listen and soak up that just-married moment before heading on to the harbour. It was a strong contrast to the reception setting, moving from the formality of the church to the open coastal feel of East Quay.
Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
Guests arrived at East Quay in the afternoon before sitting down for the wedding breakfast later on. Speeches came after the meal, with the bride’s father, Chris and the best man each taking their turn. A rectangular top table gave the room a clean, simple shape for filming reactions across the room as well as the speakers.
Evening
The evening moved into cake cutting and the first dance, with Sophie and Chris taking to the floor before Sophie shared a dance with her father. The band followed later, bringing the reception into its evening party phase. With coverage running into the start of the night, their film could close on the shift from speeches and dinner into dancing at East Quay.
