Florence + Stuart

17th June 2017Family or Friends House

A village cricket pavilion, a church on the street and a field reception gave this June wedding its own very Kentish feel. Florence and Stuart celebrated at a family or friends house, with the day moving between Egerton and the reception at Tawsden Orchard. It had the feel of a summer gathering shaped around familiar places, open space and people walking between moments rather than rushing between venues.

Morning

Florence got ready at the cricket pavilion in Egerton, with the bridal party based beside the field before heading up towards the church. It gave the morning a real sense of place, with the pavilion, village hall and cricket ground all sitting close together. Stuart spent the time before the ceremony at the pub opposite the church, which kept his side of the morning close to the action too.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place at St James Church in Egerton, with Florence arriving for the one o’clock service. The setting kept everything very local, with guests gathered around the village and the church just a short walk from the earlier preparations. It was one of those weddings where the journey between places was part of the story, not just the gap between scenes.

Speeches and Wedding Breakfast

The reception continued at Tawsden Orchard, with a huge field giving everyone room to gather after the ceremony. Speeches were held before the BBQ, including words from the bride’s father, Stuart, the best man and a thank you from Florence. Filming speeches before food always gives that part of the day a clear place in the film, with the reactions, laughter and little pauses all landing before everyone settled into the meal.

Evening

As the evening arrived, Florence and Stuart cut their cake before moving into the first dance. The timings kept the reception flowing naturally from food and speeches into the start of the evening celebrations. With the field around them and everyone gathered close, it gave the final part of the film a relaxed summer finish.
