Mountains Country House gave this summer wedding a calm country-house setting, with the ceremony and reception all held in one place. Lucy and Paul celebrated there in August 2016, after a morning that began at a hotel in Sevenoaks before everyone gathered in Hildenborough. The day moved from bridal preparations to a 1:30pm ceremony, then into dinner, speeches, live music and dancing later on.
Morning
Lucy spent the morning getting ready at The Royal Oak Hotel in Sevenoaks before leaving for Mountains Country House early in the afternoon. Paul was nearby in Tonbridge before heading to the venue, with guests arriving ahead of the ceremony. It gave the film a clear sense of the day building in two places before everything came together at the house.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place at Mountains Country House at 1:30pm, with Lucy arriving shortly beforehand. With the reception at the same venue, there was no rush between locations after the ceremony. That helped keep the focus on the couple, the guests and the first moments after Lucy and Paul were married.
Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
The wedding breakfast began in the afternoon, followed by speeches after the meal. Lucy’s father, Paul and the best man each spoke, giving that part of the film a strong run of voices from people close to them. Speeches are often where the character of a wedding really comes through, and this part of the day gave their film plenty of real audio to carry the story.
Evening
The evening centred on the cake cutting, first dance and live singers. The first dance was sung live as a surprise for the guests, which gave the moment a very personal feel on film. Straight afterwards, Lucy danced with her father, bringing another clear family moment into the evening coverage.
