Rebecca + Craig

3rd June 2023Cooling Castle Barn

Cooling Castle Barn has that rare mix of Kent countryside character and practical space that really suits a summer wedding, especially when everything is happening in one place. For Rebecca and Craig, it meant the morning, ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening celebrations all had room to breathe without anyone needing to disappear off-site. Their June 2023 wedding had a relaxed, venue-centred feel, with both sides getting ready just a short walk from where the ceremony would take place.

Morning

Rebecca spent the morning getting ready at Cooling Castle Barn with her bridal party, tucked away in the venue’s dressing room while the day started to build around them. Craig was also on site, getting ready with the groomsmen in the Master Suite Lounge, which gave the morning a nice sense of closeness without the couple crossing paths too early. Having prep at the same venue made it easier to capture both sides of the story, from final details and quiet nerves to the first proper moments of the day.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place at Cooling Castle Barn in the afternoon, with an outdoor setting giving the summer day a clear focal point. By then, guests had arrived, Craig was ready and waiting, and Rebecca’s entrance brought everything into focus. It was one of those ceremonies where the setting did a lot of quiet work in the background, giving the film plenty of natural space around the vows and reactions.

Speeches and Wedding Breakfast

The wedding breakfast began later in the afternoon, with speeches planned around the meal rather than rushed straight after the ceremony. Rebecca’s father, Craig and the best man all spoke, giving that part of the day a good mix of family, humour and the kind of details that matter in a wedding film. There was also a surprise performance during the meal, which added a proper lift to the room before the evening began.

Evening

After the meal, Rebecca and Craig cut the cake and moved into the evening celebrations. Their first dance started the night on the dance floor, followed by a dance with Rebecca’s father, which gave the evening film a quieter personal beat before the party took over. Later on, a saxophone player joined the DJ, bringing extra energy to the reception as guests settled into the night.
