Alison + Lloyd

8th October 2019Cooling Castle Barn

There was a calm autumn feel to Alison and Lloyd’s celebration, with everyone gathering at Cooling Castle Barn well before the ceremony and the day building without any rush. October suited the barns well, giving their wedding film plenty of texture: the old brick, the courtyard feel, the harp music before the ceremony and guests settling in for an afternoon and evening all in one place.

Morning

Alison got ready at Cooling Castle Barn, which gave the morning a settled feel because there was no travel between prep and the ceremony. Lloyd was there for part of his preparations too, so the venue already felt alive by the time guests began arriving. We joined a little earlier to capture more of that pre-ceremony time, the details coming together and the last few minutes before everyone headed in.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place at Cooling Castle Barn in the afternoon, with a harpist playing as guests arrived, during the ceremony and as Alison and Lloyd walked back out together. That live music gave the ceremony a very distinct feel on film, especially in the moments before Alison entered and again as everyone reacted afterwards. Keeping everything at the venue meant the story could move naturally from the ceremony into congratulations and drinks without breaking the flow.

Speeches and Wedding Breakfast

The wedding breakfast began later in the afternoon, with speeches following the meal. Alison’s father, Lloyd and the best man all spoke, giving us a good mix of family perspective, humour and those small personal details that make speeches such a strong part of a wedding film. Cooling Castle Barn works well for this part of the day because the room keeps everyone close, so reactions from the tables become part of the story too.

Evening

As evening arrived, Alison and Lloyd cut their cake just before the first dance. It was a neat way to bring guests back together before everyone gathered around the dance floor at 8pm. We finished our coverage just after that first dance, capturing the point where the formal parts of the day gave way to the party.
