August gave Chilston Park Hotel a proper high-summer feel, with the house and grounds doing a lot of the work before anyone had said a word. Jasmin and Kieran kept everything in one place at the hotel, which gave their film a calm, connected shape, moving naturally between morning prep, the ceremony, dinner and the evening celebrations.
Morning
Jasmin had been at Chilston Park Hotel from the morning, so by the time filming began there was already plenty happening around the rooms. Kieran was due at the ceremony space from midday, giving the film that useful contrast between the last stages of bridal prep and guests beginning to arrive. With everything happening on site, we could stay close to the details and the people rather than losing time moving between locations.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place at Chilston Park Hotel at 2pm. We followed the final moments before Jasmin walked in, then stayed with Kieran and the room as everyone settled into the ceremony. Having the venue, prep and reception all in one place helped the film keep its focus on reactions, glances and the small pauses between each part of the day.
Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
The wedding breakfast began at 4pm, with speeches planned after the meal. The best man, maid of honour, mother of the bride and Kieran all spoke, which gave that part of the film a good mix of humour, family perspective and personal detail. Speeches after food often give people a little more room to relax, and that came through in the way the room responded.
Evening
The evening moved quickly, with the cake cutting around 7pm and the first dance shortly after. That gave us a clear run from speeches into the more informal part of the night, keeping the energy up without the day feeling stretched. Once the dance floor opened, we stayed with the movement, the reactions and the shift from formal celebration into a proper party.
