Kat + Harry

29th May 2022The Night Yard

There was a real spring buzz to Kat and Harry’s celebration, with Canterbury at the centre of the day and The Night Yard waiting for the reception afterwards. It felt relaxed but full of movement, starting with morning prep in the city before everyone gathered for the church ceremony. By the time guests reached Highland Court Farm, the day had shifted into that proper countryside reception feel, with food, speeches, cake and dancing all packed into the evening.

Morning

Kat got ready at The Falstaff Hotel in Canterbury, giving the morning a city-centre start before the short move out towards the ceremony. The timings were tight in the best way, with Harry heading off first and Kat following soon after. It gave the film a clear build, from the quieter prep moments through to everyone arriving at the church.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place at St James Church in Sheldwich, with Harry arriving ahead of Kat before the 1.30pm service. A church ceremony always gives the film a different kind of shape, especially with the aisle, vows and family reactions all happening in one focused space. After the ceremony, the celebration moved on to The Night Yard for the reception.

Speeches and Wedding Breakfast

The wedding breakfast began at The Night Yard in the late afternoon, with speeches following after food. Harry and the best man both spoke, and the bride’s father was also listed among the speakers. Those moments gave the reception part of the film its character, shifting from the meal into the stories, reactions and raised glasses that carried the evening forward.

Evening

The evening moved quickly, with cake cutting just before the first dance. Kat and Harry had an unplanned first dance, which kept that part of the night feeling natural rather than over-rehearsed. With a band booked for the evening, the reception had a clear handover from formal moments into the party.
