Katie + Alex

20th May 2017Lympne Castle

May gave Katie and Alex’s wedding a clear spring feel, with Lympne Castle carrying the day from morning preparations through to the evening reception. Katie was already at the castle cottages as the morning began, while the ceremony took place nearby at St Stephens Church before everyone returned to the castle for dinner, speeches and dancing.

Morning

Katie’s morning was based at the cottages at Lympne Castle, which kept the start of the day close to the venue and gave the preparations a settled feel. With everything already centred around the castle, there was no need for a separate journey into the ceremony, just the build-up before heading across to church.

Ceremony

Alex arrived at St Stephens Church before the service and was there to welcome guests as they came in. Katie and Alex were married in the church at 1.30pm, with the reception waiting back at Lympne Castle afterwards.

Speeches and Wedding Breakfast

The wedding breakfast began at the castle in the afternoon, giving everyone time to sit down together after the ceremony. Speeches followed the meal, with Katie’s father, Alex and the best men all speaking, which gave this part of the film plenty of real voices and reactions to work with.

Evening

The evening moved into the cake cutting before Katie and Alex took to the floor for their first dance at 7.30pm. It was a clean, natural close to the film, with the formal parts of the day giving way to the start of the party at Lympne Castle.
