There was a calm, family-centred feel to Katie and Lewis’s celebration at The Old Kent Barn, with the day staying close to one place and giving everyone time to settle into it. Filmed in June 2019, it had that relaxed summer wedding pace, with preparations, ceremony, food, speeches and dancing all happening around the barn and its grounds.
Morning
Katie got ready at The Old Kent Barn, which kept the morning grounded in the same setting as the ceremony and reception. Lewis arrived at the venue around midday, giving us time to capture the last stretch before guests gathered and the ceremony began.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place at The Old Kent Barn, out at the swing field at Smersole Farm. Katie and Lewis married in the early afternoon, with the venue’s outdoor space giving the film a clear sense of place without needing to rush between locations.
Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
The wedding breakfast began later in the afternoon, with speeches saved until after the meal. Katie’s godfather, Lewis and the two best men all spoke, giving that part of the film a good mix of family history, humour and the kind of reactions that are always worth holding onto.
Evening
As the reception moved into the evening, Katie and Lewis cut the cake before heading into their first dance. It gave the film a natural closing stretch, moving from speeches and tables to the dance floor as everyone gathered around them.
