Katie and Stuart’s wedding at Goodnestone Park was a beautifully personal day.
Morning Preparations at Goodnestone House
Katie prepared for the day in Goodnestone House, the elegant Queen Anne mansion at the heart of the Goodnestone Park estate. Her mum played a key role throughout the morning, helping with the final touches and keeping the atmosphere calm and focused.
One of the most emotional moments was the father–daughter reveal. Katie’s dad, Neil, saw her for the first time in her dress and was visibly moved – a mix of pride, emotion and a few quiet tears that set the tone for the heartfelt day ahead.
An Intimate Indoor Ceremony
While the ceremony was originally planned outdoors, a touch of morning rain brought everything into a charming indoor space on the estate. The change created a warm, intimate atmosphere that suited the day perfectly. As Katie walked down the aisle on her father’s arm, the space felt personal, cosy and full of anticipation.
Readings, Rings and Family Moments
The ceremony included meaningful readings, emotional vows and lovely involvement from Jacob and Lyra, who played their parts perfectly. Their presence added a natural, family-centred feel to the ceremony.
Speeches Filled with Heart and Humour
The speeches were a true highlight of the day. Katie’s dad, Neil, shared touching stories from throughout Katie’s life – including their volunteer work together in Ghana, their challenging climb up Mount Kilimanjaro, and moments that showcased Katie’s drive, bravery and independence.
He also surprised everyone with a light-hearted poem written in the style of Jane Austen, one of Katie’s favourite writers. The room erupted in laughter as he blended family stories, gentle humour and heartfelt sentiments.
Stuart’s speech added equally memorable moments. He told the now-legendary story of mistaking a bowl of olive stones for peanuts during his very first meeting with Katie’s parents – a moment that had the whole room laughing. He also spoke about all the little moments over the years that made him fall more and more in love with Katie.
Although Stuart’s brother couldn’t attend due to illness, a close friend stepped in to deliver a warm and supportive message on his behalf, sharing childhood memories and celebrating the couple’s journey with plenty of humour.
Evening Celebrations
As the sun set over Goodnestone Park, the evening unfolded with music, dancing and a relaxed family atmosphere. With live music, children running between the adults and a full dance floor, the reception captured everything Katie and Stuart envisioned – a celebration of family, togetherness and joy.
