Lucy and Tom’s summer celebration brought Chiddingstone village into the story, with the church and castle just a short walk apart. Chiddingstone Castle gave the day its setting, but it was the movement between places, morning preparations in Tunbridge Wells, the walk back through the village, speeches before dinner, and a packed evening, that gave the film its shape.
Morning
The day began at One Warwick Park Hotel in Tunbridge Wells, where Lucy was getting ready before leaving for Chiddingstone. With the ceremony set for 2pm, there was a clear sense of the morning building towards that short journey from prep to the church.
Ceremony
St Mary the Virgin Church sits just a few minutes from Chiddingstone Castle, which made the ceremony feel closely connected to the reception rather than a separate part of the day. Tom arrived ahead of the service, and Lucy followed shortly before the 2pm ceremony, with the village setting adding real character to the footage around the church.
Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
Back at Chiddingstone Castle, the speeches came before the wedding breakfast, which always gives the reception a strong centre point before everyone sits down to eat. Lucy’s father, Tom, and the best man each spoke, giving us the kind of audio that becomes a real backbone for a wedding film.
Evening
The evening moved neatly into the cake cut and first dance, both timed close together after dinner. Lucy and Tom kept the first dance simple with just one dance, which suited the relaxed feel of the night and let everyone get straight into the party afterwards.
