Rob + Robert

23rd August 2018South Farm, Royston

Just after the ceremony, Rob and Robert stepped into the garden at South Farm for a butterfly release behind the rows of ceremony chairs. It gave their summer wedding in Royston a detail that felt entirely theirs, quiet, personal and full of movement on film.

Morning

Filming began late in the morning once the venue setup was behind them, which meant the preparations could settle into the parts of the day that mattered on camera. Rob got ready between The Granary and the Bridal Suite, while Robert was in the Dove Cote and Horse Barn. Before the ceremony, they shared a first look by the fireplace in the Main House.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place at South Farm, with the Summer House used for the outdoor setting. After they were married, Rob and Robert headed into the garden for the butterfly release, a small moment that gave us something very specific to capture beyond the formal ceremony itself. The venue’s mix of gardens, barns and tucked-away spaces gave the film plenty of texture without needing to force anything.

Speeches and Wedding Breakfast

The wedding breakfast began in the Tudor Barn after guests had taken their seats. Before Rob and Robert entered, they had a private dance together in the Horse Barn, which was one of the more personal parts of the day to film. Speeches followed the meal, with the man of honour, Robert and the best man all speaking.

Evening

After the speeches, Rob and Robert cut the cake before the evening moved into dancing. Their first dance began with the two of them before the bridal party joined them, followed by a second dance with their mums. A live pianist had played through the drinks reception and wedding breakfast, adding a natural thread of music through the afternoon.
