Alice + James

12th August 2018Cooling Castle Barn

There was a calm, gathered feel to Alice and James’s summer celebration at Cooling Castle Barn, with every part of the day kept within the same historic Kent venue. August gave the barn setting a proper summer backdrop, and the day carried a clear sense of family, ceremony and celebration without needing to move anywhere else.

Morning

Alice got ready at Cooling Castle Barn, so the morning stayed rooted in the venue rather than split across different locations. With the ceremony taking place there too, the preparations had a natural connection to the rest of the day, building towards the afternoon without a change of setting.

Ceremony

James arrived ahead of the ceremony, with guests gathering at Cooling Castle Barn before the 2pm start. Alice and James were married in the same place that held their reception, which gave the ceremony a close, settled feeling and kept everyone together as the day moved into celebrations.

Speeches and Wedding Breakfast

The wedding breakfast began at 4:30pm, giving everyone time after the ceremony to settle into the reception. Speeches followed after the meal at 6pm, which meant the room had already had time to relax before the formal words began.

Evening

Alice and James cut their cake at 7:45pm before moving into the first dance at 8pm. It was a clean, simple shift from the meal and speeches into the evening party, with the focus firmly back on the two of them as the night began.
