This wedding film was built around the way Laurie and Dave’s day moved through Cooling Castle Barn in late summer, with the morning, ceremony, speeches and evening all happening in one place. The aim was to keep the film grounded in the real shape of the day: Laurie getting ready at the barn, Dave arriving before the ceremony, the run of speeches after dinner, and the first dance closing the main story of the evening.
Morning
Laurie spent the morning getting ready at Cooling Castle Barn, which gave the film time to settle into the venue before guests began to arrive. With Dave due in later in the morning and the ceremony set for the afternoon, there was space to capture the build-up without rushing through the details.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place at Cooling Castle Barn in the afternoon, keeping everyone together at the same venue for the main part of the day. Laurie had been there since the morning, so the film could follow the shift from bridal prep into the ceremony itself, with Dave waiting at the barn before she walked in.
Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
The wedding breakfast began later in the afternoon, with speeches planned for after food. Laurie’s father, Dave, the best man, the bridesmaids and Laurie all spoke, giving this part of the film a strong thread of real voices and reactions rather than just quick highlights.
Evening
The evening moved into the cake cut first, before Laurie and Dave had their first dance at around 8pm. It gave the final part of the film a clear shape, from the last formal moments into the dance floor as the summer night carried on at the barn.
