October gave Lucy and Michael’s wedding at Cooling Castle Barn a clear autumn character, with everything centred around the barns in Rochester. It was a day built around one place, which gave the film a steady thread through the morning preparations, the ceremony, the meal and the evening celebrations.
Morning
Lucy spent the morning at Cooling Castle Barn, already at the venue from 8am as the preparations began. Michael arrived later in the morning, giving the build-up two sides within the same setting before everyone gathered for the ceremony.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place indoors at Cooling Castle Barn at 2pm. With guests settled inside and the couple both already at the venue, the focus stayed on Lucy and Michael as they came together for the main part of the day.
Speeches and Wedding Breakfast
The wedding breakfast began at 4.30pm, with speeches following after the meal. The bride’s father, Michael and the best man each spoke, giving us the kind of real audio that helps a wedding film feel personal to the couple rather than just a record of the schedule.
Evening
The evening moved into the cake cutting at around 6.45pm to 7pm, before the first dance later on. Lucy then shared a father and daughter dance afterwards, which gave the end of the film another clear family moment to sit alongside the speeches.
