The Knowle Country House in Higham – a stunning wedding venue tucked away in the Kent countryside, under an hours drive from Central London.

The Knowle is one of our all time favourite wedding venues and it’s easy to see why. The proud 18th century country house is surrounded by 14 aches of orchards and old English gardens. This venues oozes charm and character, it boasts ample indoor and outdoor space accommodating for weddings with up to 98 guests with capacity for an additional 72 guests in the evening.

PROMOTIONAL VIDEO

Talking Fly have managed the Knowle‘s website and online presence for the past five years. In winter 2019 we added drone coverage to our services and had the idea of producing a new promotional video for the venue.

Kelly and Mark, the venue managers, are always striving to improve the Knowle and had recently added a new glass conservatory (inducing bar!) to the rear of the building. On-going work to renovate the gazebo and surrounding patio used for outside ceremonies was also taking place.

We decided the video would look best filmed in spring time, after the work had been completed. The grounds and gardens would be full of life and I wanted to fill the video with as much sun light as possible.

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

Spring soon came around; and unfortunately, much like the rest of the world, the UK was hit by Coronavirus (COVID-19)  COVID-19 drastically changed our 2019, weddings were cancelled and lock-down heavily restricted all our activities much the same as everyone else. With all our weddings rescheduled I decided it was the ideal time to focus on webdesign work.

SHOOTING THE VIDEO

After redoing the Talking Fly website the next project was the Knowle‘s website re-design and promo video. Lock down was starting to ease up and fortunately we were able to head over to the venue to capture the footage needed for the promotional video. The new website is currently in the design stage and we’re planing to use this footage throughout the site as video backgrounds.

The Knowle has a “magic” about it that’s hits you the moment your feet touch down on the driveway, the grounds and buildings are enchanting – filming was a joy. We made good use of the drone and captured lots of exterior clips showcasing the buildings, outside ceremony area, orchard and the stunning natural pond located on the other side of the walled garden.

Filming was all captured on bright sunny days and I returned one evening during golden hour to make the most of the setting sun and lens flares this would create. A Ronin and Glidecam were use used to capture interior shots.

EDITING

It took me a while to select the music track to accompany the video – I didn’t want to make it too cliché and was keen to do edit to something a bit different. I eventually decided on Affection by Lady Bri. This tack is very “bouncy” with lots of “drops” and “cuts”, it gave me the perfect opportunity to produce a fast paced, fun and exciting edit. I made this decision without consulting the Knowle – I was sure once they’d seen it, they would love it. And after all, I could always re-edit to a new track!

Fortunately, the video went down well and this is what we ended up with! :)
